week 10

today in class we finished our presentations for our greece project and tomorrow the presenting starts so i hope that me and jack do good. the longer part of our presentation is at the end of the power point, we put some video's oof the live preformances of some of these olympic sports. one group i accually can't wait to hear is elprises group because his group is going to do a rap which i like rap music so that should be pretty cool.

week 10

today in class we worked on our ancient greece project a bit more and we figured out when we are presenting which was thursday, friday, and monday. mr schick said that me and jack could present on monday which is really good because we are not any where close to done. plus we still have to do the one page paper on how we did our research so its a good thing we have some time to finish.

week 9

today in class we took our test for greece which i really hope i get an A on because the last two tests i got 2 questions wrong and my grade didn't go any where. some of the questions that were on the test were about locations on maps which i think i got all of them correct, there was matching which was puting the river or city state with the correct country, and then multipul choice which had a few that mixed me up a little but i think i did good on those too so i think i got an A.

today we finished taking notes from the power point and did some more reviewing. the notes we took were cleisthenies made poor people feel special by letting them in to the government, in agora citizens argued, made speaches, and voted with white stones(yes) black stones(no), and that spartans were always known for their tough and ruthless infantry and spartan boys had to start traning for battle from the age of seven.

today in class we took some more notes on greece and reviewed a little. some of the notes that i took were: monarchy is a rule by a single person, aristicrates are groups of noble landowning families, and oligarchies are wealthy groups dissatisfied with aristicratic rule. i also said that a tyrant is a powerful individual who gains control by appealing to common people for support and that draco says all athenians are equal by law, the punishment for most crimes is death.

today in class we worked on our project some more which my group worked on the power point more. i found information on what some of the greek sports were and a breif description about them. some of the sports i found were chariot racing which could have 2-4 horses per chriot racing around the track, wrestling which the two fighters had to take each other down to the ground 3 times, and stadian which several runners would have to run the length of a football field.

yesterday in class we went over a new project that the teacher created and we started doing reaserch for it. the project that we went over was about ancient greece which we had to chose a topic, do the research, and make a model in a group of up to 4 people. the good thing about the project is that it deosn't count as a grade for this quarter which is good because this quarter ends next week.

it should have taken 5years to return home

3. According to archeological evidence, when did the Trojan War occur?
Archelogical evidance says that the trojan war occured around 20th century BCE.

4. When did Homer compose The Odyssey?
Homer composed the Odyssey around the eighth century BCE which is hundreds of years later.

5. What is the definition of “epic poem”?
The definitioon of an epic poem is a long narative poem on a serious subject, writen in a grand, elevated style.

6. Who is Odysseus’ wife?
Odysseus' wife is penelope.

7. Who is Odysseus’ son?
His son is telemachus.

8. What happens in the cave of the Cyclops?
Odysseus and several of his men settled in the cave and ate all of the cyclops goat cheese.

Yes because to the greeks heroism means that you have an extraordinary atribute or ability and definitly did. plus he fought in the trojan war and made it home.

week 8

today in class we took more notes from the power point and talked about the crash on 22 that killed klien. the teacher told us about how he tought his dauughter and that he was a very nice person. some of the notes we took were about homer and how told stories like the trojan war, and that thegreek diet consist of grains, grapes, olives, and fish. one other thing we took notes on was about ho the temperature of greece ranged from 40 degrees in the winter and 80 degrees in the summer.

today in class we took notes from the chapter on greece since the teacher was out doing something for a few minuts and we took notes on the power point. some of the notes that we took were that aproximately 2000 island are in Ionian and aegean sea and that greece is a mountainous peninsula which 3/4 of greece is covered with mountians. we also took notes on how greece had poor natural resourses forcing them to have to trade with others.

today in class we took the test for egypt and then we had to take notes on the greece. the grade i got on my test was a 65 out of 75 which is an 87%. some of the notes that i took were how the temperatures in greece during the winter is 48 degrees and in the summer it's 80 degrees. i also said that the mycenaean were people that migrated to greek main land after destruction of mycenaean civilization.

today in class we finished taking notes off the power point and then we reviewed for the test. some of the notes we took were that pyramids were massive stone tombs and that the temple of amon at karnak is the largest religious building. we also took notes on how narmer united upper and lower egypt in 3100 BC.

yesterday in class we took notes on a power point and had a discusion. we almost had a test today but i complained about not having enough time to study yesterday so he moved it to tomorrow. some of the things we toke notes on were that egyptians believed in after life, how they would mumifi bodies to preserve them for post death jurney, and that gods were portrayed with an animal head.
