week 15 day 8
greco roman culture is the mixture of elements of greek, helenistic, and roman culture. pompeii was a roman town with lots of paintings and was covered in thick ash after the eruption of mount vesuvius. vigil was a poet who spent ten years writing the most famous work in literature, the Aeneid, an epic of the legendary Aeneas. tacitus, a roman historian, was very notable because he always presented the facts and he was concerned for their lack of morality. aqueducts were designed to bring in water to the cities and towns. their influence on western civilization was high because not only did the romans speack the latin language but it was a language that continued to be learned long after the fall of rome and it was the official language of the roman chatholic church into the 20th century.
