week 14

jesus was a jew who was born in the town of bethlehem in judea. the apostles are 12 men that followed and helped jesus during his ministry. the apostle paul had enormus influence on christianity's developent. the jewish diaspora is where the jews were driven out of their homeland and forced into exile. constantine was a roman emperor who was fighting his rivals for leadership of rome and was on the side of christianity. a bishop is a priest who supervised several local churches. peter was an apostle who traveled down from jerusalem to rome and became a bishop. a pope is the father or head of the christian church. jesus emphasizes god's personal relationship to each human being. because they posed a threat to the romans which was that they refused to worship the roman gods. the importance of the nicene creed is that it is the central belief of the church.
